Russell Copley: Director

Russell Copley*† (Director) is an arts educator in Los Angeles Unified School District. He spent twelve years in the classroom teaching Drama and Stage Design. He is very proud to be working with a cast and crew that spent many hours with him as a student, parent, coach, professional mentor and fellow teacher. Russell is a native South African and studied acting at University of Cape Town Drama School, and graduated from University College Dublin with a master’s degree in Drama Studies. Russell spent many years working as a professional actor and director in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Melbourne, Dublin, Amsterdam, London, and then San Diego – where he began his journey in the USA. Russell is an arts activist and strives to bring arts education opportunities to all students in LAUSD. He is dedicating this show to his mother, Valerie, who brought him up to respect and to practice the core Irish values of social justice, endurance, humor and compassion.
